Housing Reassignments or Academic Help Interim Measures

After a report of sexual violence, Stanford’s Title IX Coordinator is empowered to issue temporary interim measures to assist a complainant with housing, academic and other concerns that might arise after experiencing sexual violence. Each case is assessed on an individualized basis for appropriate response; not all measures are warranted for every case.  The Title IX Coordinator will work with campus partners to arrange assistance as appropriate. Interim measures that restrict an accused student generally remain in place while the University investigates an allegation. If an accused student is found responsible or if the accused party agrees to the restriction, interim measures could become ongoing restrictions for so long as the complainant is a student.  (Note that if an accused student is found not responsible, the university has very limited authority to impose ongoing restrictions, which will generally be lifted except in extraordinary circumstances.)
